Here is a very old promo poster I did before the pilot was even complete!

OMG I swear I haven’t forgotten about this group afshdgsgjd ; A ;
the worst feeling about trying to draw is being a mediocre artist. You realize you’re not terrible and family and friends who can’t draw at all tell you all the time how amazing you are, but you, as the artist, have seen what amazing really is and you realize that it isn’t you.
Sleep Paralysis is a phenomenon in which people, either falling asleep or waking up, temporarily experience the inability to move. Scientifically its the transition state between wakefulness and rest characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness).
I’ve known several people who have had sleep paralysis, who have even made characters who share the same trait. I’ve never suffered from it myself but I find the folklore around it fascinating, because no matter what nation of origin it always has to do with the visitation of a demon or vengeful spirit who either sits on, restrains, or strangles said victim. And so I drew my own little depiction of it, complete with a demon girl puking black stuff on a guy.
I dunno, sue me.
Fun Fact Of the Day #1 the myth of the succubus and incubus came out of the hallucinations people have when they experience sleep paralysis
Fun Fact Of The Day #2 this dude’s art is so fucking rad
I learned a nice bit of info on this in psych class this semester and it is a really fascinating concept. Basically your body throughout the sleep cycles goes through different things. I believe it’s in your deepest cycles (which is 3 and 4) of sleep, your body goes through sleep paralysis. If you’ve ever watched someone sleep and they start to twitch a little or if they’re dreaming hardcore and weakly move their limbs, the sleep paralysis is pretty much the body’s mechanism to keep you from hurting yourself in your sleep. So the few times you may have punched or kicked in your dreams and it’s transferred into real life as a meek movement of the arm or leg, usually it wouldn’t be as strong as when you were awake and in control. It’s usually rare you can punch full force of some sort, unless you’re sleep walking.
Every time I post a Bravest Warriors cover a couple people always ask “Where’s Catbug?”. Well I’ve hidden one on this cover for issue 11. See if you can find him!
